Description of One-day Application Class
This is a complete, in depth, hands on workshop designed to give you the ability to successfully complete your first project using any of the three remarkable plasters of American Clay to achieve an infinite variety of colors and finishes on almost any surface. The emphasis is on experiencing all of the materials with a factual knowledge of how they work, how they are best applied, and why they are a healthy, beautiful and economically smart choice for today’s interior walls and accents.
In addition to class handouts, discussion and personal experience with all phases of mixing plasters, adding and adjusting color pigments, trowel techniques, texturing and finishing your own large wall space, participants are given time and tools to experiment with any of the 43 pigments and Loma, Porcelina and Marittimo plasters. Demonstrations include popular finishes, such as Venetian and Skip Trowel, as well as sealers that may be used.
Schedule
9-5, with a one hour lunch break. Multiple good lunch and coffee venues are in walking distance. All American Clay products are available for sale at the end of class.
Attire
While the materials are waterbased and clean easily, comfortable clothes that you won’t mind getting messy while playing with mud are a good idea.
Cost
$199 to register, plus a $10 materials fee payable at the class; all necessary tools are provided.
Your Instructor
Rick Kantor is an experienced applicator and American Clay sales consultant, whose background includes successfully running a New York City faux finishing company and extensive Arts education including a BFA in Painting. The emphasis in these classes is fun, participation, and creatively discovering the ease and endless possibilities of this incomparable material.
